We successfully applied to be a member and borrowed books from their collection beginning in February 2018. We are entitled to borrow 100 books for a three-week period. In 2017 we acquired a BRCK Kio Kit comprising of 40 tablets. The tablets are loaded with rich digital content including e-books and Tusome. The Kio Kit serves as an additional reading resource when students come to the LRC. https://www.brck.com/education/ LEVEL UP Village (LUV)

U.S. Embassy for Teachers of English
Since 2015 Kenya Connect has partnered with the Cultural Affairs Division of the U.S Embassy. Over 60 English language teachers from Wamunyu participated in the Massive Online Courses (MOUCS) and some even met with the Cultural Affairs Coordinator to talk about professional development programs. We have also had 21 students participate and successfully complete a two year-long English Access program. In an effort to locally source books, Kenya Connect works with Phoenix Publishers, a local publisher specializing in early reader books. They provide discounts to KC and have also donated books as prizes for our Kenya Connect 5K. Avallain provided its Ministry of Education approved A-Academy Curriculum on the Learning Resource Center’s computers including curriculum to strengthen reading and comprehension. The content-rich Rachel Plus device can connect an entire classroom of computers or tablets to the world of educational resources in a single click. Kenya Connect has purchased 3 Rachel Plus devices for the LRC and 6 for our sister program in the Kyaithani Cluster.
